Sandies and hybrids have been stacked up on midlake humps and points in 23-30 ft of water. We’ve been catching them on chrome jigging spoons with a crappie jig tied about 15 inches above it. Many doubles are occurring with a mix of big sandies, small hybrids, and the occasional legal hybrid which must be over 18 inches to retain. Also, lots of good eating-sized blue catfish being caught this way.
I’ve been seeing some early morning schooling along the West Bank of the lake. If they will stay on top long enough, any swim type or rattletrap type life will work. Just get in front of them and allow boat to drift thru the feeding fish.
Crappie are being caught around shaded bridge columns on jigs and small minnows in 8-15 ft of water.
Channel catfish are being caught around fish cleaning docks and piers on livers and stink bait.
